Keyboard action
PianoDreamers is positive about the PHA-4 action, and E-Piano Test also treats the keyboard as a major strength. Their enthusiasm is useful evidence for an audition, but the action’s resistance remains personal. Compare the RP107 with a CX102 or AP-S200 using quiet scales, repeated notes and a passage you know. An action that feels substantial is not automatically the easiest one for you to control.
Piano sound and speakers
Both reviews are positive about the core Roland piano sound. PianoDreamers is more cautious about the limited selection directly available and the overall feature boundaries. For a focused practice instrument, that need not be a problem. If you expect to change among many voices, demonstrate those exact changes rather than relying on a headline total that includes sounds reached through an app.
Controls connectivity and buyer fit
E-Piano Test finds the simple presentation approachable; PianoDreamers dislikes button-and-key combinations. Preserve that distinction when shopping: simplicity of appearance is different from simplicity of operation. Ask to change the metronome and access your usual sound without a phone, then try the app. Compare the RP701 if a screen and a broader everyday interface would make practice easier. Check the fitted pedals and bench height as part of the whole console, not as afterthoughts.
Purchase check
Measure the room with the bench pulled back, the music rest raised and cables connected. Arrange delivery and assembly before purchase. Test the pedal reach from a comfortable seat height. A cabinet can make everyday practice convenient, but it commits more space and is harder to move than a separate keyboard.
